Bubinga Platter

FIGURED BUBINGA PLATTER
This plate serves up plenty of beauty.

SHOP OWNER: Bernie McGivern
LOCATION: Strongsville, OH

This was an interesting piece of highly figured Bubinga. It is the nicest piece of wood I have ever seen. The dimensions were 27 x 27 x 1 . Being a very dense wood Bubinga turns very easily and takes a finish very well. Originally, I wanted to make a simple platter to display the figure. However, it ended up being 24" in diameter. It was fun to turn; I had to outboard turn it on my Jet 1642VS. I used an oil finish, sanded to 1500 grit.
