FROM BIRDHOUSES TO WHIRLY GIGS
This retiree is enjoying retirement in his small shop.
SHOP OWNER: Art Rollins
LOCATION: Randolph, VT
Iím a retired trucker, mechanic, and business owner. I retired twelve years ago. My woodworking hobby started on a pair of saw horses in my garage with an old tabletop tablesaw that I bought at a yard sale for $20. Now I have small shop and many toys. I had no idea that a couple of birdhouses would lead to what I do now. I make all sorts of lawn ornaments, bird feeders, birdhouses, animated whirly gigs, and toys for kids. Some I sell at craft shows, but we also sell a lot from here at home. We keep a display on the front lawn all summer long. In addition, I occasionally do some custom work for people.
I like chatting with fellow woodworkers, and like to travel, but that is limited now. My wife and I will be married for 50 years this year. She does crochet work, which she sells too.. . . Art Rollins
