Box Joint Jig

A BETTER MOUSE TRAP
Another box joint jig.

SHOP OWNER: C.A. Rush
LOCATION: Arlington, TX

I must commend Carole on her box joint jig (Shop Shot #635). I built and used the same one some time ago. However, I have just completed a newer and better model of a jig to cut box joints. The improvement of this jig over the other lies in the removable fences and their ability to hold their setting from use to use.

This jig is also a ShopNotes model, issue # 62. Another feature that I like is the double miter slot setup for the sled, which keeps the twist out of the movement as the jig passes through the stacked dado.

All the removable fences are identical except for the size and placement of the keys. The adjustment on the cut is provided with a fine threaded sheetrock screw in the end of each fence. To keep them together and not clutter the shop, I also built a storage box.
