Oak and Walnut Box

BENEFIT BOX
Made to donate to a worth cause.

SHOP OWNER: Ned Bulken
LOCATION: Canastota, NY

I made this box recently as a donation for an auction to benefit cancer research. It measured in at 8" long by 4" tall. The materials were red oak for the top and bottom, walnut for the ends, and a simple dowel for the hinge.

The top and bottom were solid blocks, hollowed out with my stacked dado set. I cut the ends on the bandsaw and sanded to their final radius. I applied six coats of Watco Natural, sanding between coats. When dry, I followed with one coat of finishing wax, buffed out to a nice sheen.
