Carved Whitetail Deer

DEER CROSSING
Who let these whitetails loose in the house?

SHOP OWNER: Doug and Mary Ridley
LOCATION: Paducah, KY

Here are some shots of a couple of deer Mary and I just finished. The pictures really don't do them justice as I am just starting to use my digital camera and am not very good with it yet.
Carved Whitetail Deer

The bodies are from Tupelo Gum, which I carved, with the antlers carved, and applied separately. The eyes are a couple of drops of two-part epoxy, painted brown, and covered with clear nail polish.

For the ground cover, I used planer shavings mixed with yellow glue. When dry, we painted it by stippling with oils. As usual, I did the carving and Mary did the painting.
