Architectural details abound in this mahogany bookcase.
SHOP OWNER: Ed Zieverink
LOCATION: Cleves, OH
I just stumbled on your Website the other day and thought I might share my latest project. I modeled this arched top bookcase after one I saw in the Monticello Catalog that we received in the mail.
Other than downsizing the bookcase a few inches from the original, I copied the architectural details as best I could from the photograph. It is made of mahogany hardwood and plywood and the top is bendable plywood. I constructed the arched top in three separate layers, which allowed the use of the router bits I already had on hand. To make the front pillars, I used rail and stile bits and the floating field is a bookmatched piece of mahogany.. . . Ed Zieverink
