Jan's Windsor Chairs

LEARN BY DOING
Sometimes experience is the best teacher.

While this is certainly not the best shot in my portfolio, or the best design, it may be my greatest woodshop accomplishment. About three years ago, I mentioned to a friend that I might enroll in Drew Langsnor’s Windsor Chair class, and he said I might teach myself by making 26 Windsors for his country club. The price was right and the lead time better so I began hitting the books. Now let me say most of the parts were easy, bent lams for all the curves, Queen Anne legs, seats and so on. However, there were about 60 holes per chair, which had angles all over the place, and with 27, I wanted one for myself, the brace and bit with T-bevels and mirror system seemed hardly profitable. In addition, there was assembly that had to happen after making all the parts. I had many bon fire dreams until the dead blow hit the first one home!
