Old World Santa - Front View

OLD WORLD CARVING
Masterful carving technique revealed!

SHOP OWNER: Doug and Mary Ridley
LOCATION: Paducah, KY

Recently I got a piece of basswood from a fellow WoodCentralian, Phillip Duffy, with no idea of what I was going to do with it. The basswood was about 8" x 2" x 3'. I sawed it into and glued up the two pieces with Gorilla Glue. It came out just right for an Old World Santa. I drew the front and side views on the wood and cut them out on the bandsaw.
I can't give a step-by-step narrative of how I carve anything, as I am mostly self-taught. I just carve away sort of like the old carving saying, just cut away everything that doesn't look like a Santa Claus. Anyhow, here are some different views for your enjoyment.
