Exotic wood veneers bring this design to life.

This commissioned entertainment center houses a big screen TV and assorted electronic equipment. The main unit features Kevazinga veneer (rotary cut Bubinga), with Macassar Ebony veneered doors, and a Wenge veneered top. The sides curve to visually lighten the piece, as it is almost six feet across and about six feet high.
The two speaker stands are essentially miniature versions of the main unit with a scaled-down version of the same curve on their sides. They each have two drawers in front for DVD, videotapes, remotes, instruction manuals, etc.
This is the first set of doors I built for this unit using Wenge veneer. Both my client and I decided the Wenge doors just weren’t nice looking enough and the pattern was too plain. The Macassar ebony veneer with a more interesting pattern lay-up proved a better choice. This picture gives a better feel for the size of the piece in my little shop. I also built a large coffee table and display stand in the same style and materials for this client but I do not have good pictures of these pieces yet.. . . Craig Thibodeau
