Temporary Shop

WILDERNESS HOMESTEAD
This one-time farm boy returns to his roots.

SHOP OWNER: Bob Smalser
LOCATION: Seabeck, WA
Sprague Pond Wildlife Refuge

I grew up a tenant farm boy working for dad and three childless uncles. One built commercial watermen's boats (garveys), one built spec houses, and the other was a farmer. They almost never hired out any task.

I've had and retired from a couple of careers, which include an Army gunsmith and habitat biologist, but always wound up going back to my roots as a boat builder and housewright apprentice.
Bob's Tools

I have forest acreage with ponds and run an 8" X 26' Lucas Mill. I'm taking five years off to build a homestead. I already have two small temporary shops erected and will begin the main residence next spring.
