Ebony & Holly Box

ONE LAST PROJECT
The choice of woods just seemed fitting.

Storm, our 11-year-old cat, passed away a week ago. Over the weekend I made a box to hold her ashes. It's the same basic design I've used several times, many of which are posted in previous Shop Shots.
Ebony & Holly Box

This box is solid ebony with holly trim and a solid holly bottom panel. These woods seemed fitting since her fur color was mostly black with a white belly. The Chinese character on the bottom is the character for "storm" and was made using a wood burner.

I had to stop several times during the construction because it was all a bit too emotional. However, I was glad I could do one last thing for such a dear friend and pet. She caused us great happiness, excitement, and many surprises. I enjoyed making several projects just for her over the years, one of which I've included.
