JEWELRY BOXES EVERYWHERE
Turning a hobby into a business.
SHOP OWNER: Jim Ziegler
LOCATION: British Columbia, Canada
Here are three pictures of jewelry boxes that I make up here in British Columbia. The basic idea came from designs by Tony Lydgate. I make them from several different woods but prefer birdseye maple, koa, white oak, red padauk and black walnut. I currently market them on a wholesale basis throughout Western Canada. In a way, it is a hobby gone wild, since I produce sowewhere in the order of 600 pieces a year and am a one man operation. I have won several awards in our neck of the woods for these boxes.
I have a 600 sq. ft. shop, complete with depth sander, two 10-in. table saws, a 6 x 89-in. belt sander, a lathe, drill presses, a bandsaw, a radial arm saw, several routers and all sorts of hand tools. I am supposed to be retired but that is another story....Jim Ziegler
