INLAID WRITING DESK
Curly maple inlay provides dramatic contrast to dignified walnut.
SHOP OWNER: Chris Knob
LOCATION: Wallingford, PA
Here are some pics of a desk I've had some modest success selling in all kinds of woods. This one is walnut with a diamond-shaped curly maple inlay in the desk top field and on the front of each turned leg. The table skirt has a curly maple bead on the bottom and the burl walnut veneered drawer is cock beaded with the same maple. The maple diamonds are bordered with a cherry string inlay. The knob is turned from walnut stock. The walnut is common, picked from the less than desireable pile but with lots of character. The finish is satin nitrocellulose lacquer.
The size of this table makes a desirable item. It makes a great small writing desk, sofa table or small sideboard. The dimensions -- 16 D x 48 W x 30 H -- make it easy for the customer to load it into the back seat and go.
