OLIVER JIG SAW
Saws like this were the masters of gingerbread.
SHOP OWNER: William Kerfoot
LOCATION: Oxford, PA
This is an Oliver Model 2046 36-inch jig saw. The throat is 36" between the blade and colum. Plus the blade is at 45 degrees to the frame, resulting in a very large capacity. It will accept 10 inches under the guide.
I have sold a couple of these in the past but they were older ones: A Model 173 from the '30s and a Model 273 from the '40's.
This machine was built in 1967 and sold to a pattern shop. It has the same pretty lines as earlier models, but it also has improvements to the upper arm and guide adjustment.
The earlier models were popular for scrollwork on gingerbread house trim but since that style has died, restorers, patternmakers and the occasional die-hard hobbyist are the main buyers for these big jig saws.. . . William Kerfoot
