JEWELRY BOX QUARTET
You'd swear he was an old hand at inlay.

I built four jewelry boxes over the winter as Christmas gifts for family. The one shown at left was for my wife. The others are shown below.
The boxes are made of walnut, with dovetailed corners. The inlays are walnut burl set in birdseye maple ovals. This was my first attempt at inlay work.
I inset an oval mirror on the inside of the lid of each box. I also added a key lock, a lift out tray, and a music box unit. I finished the boxes with rub-on polyurethane.
The project was very rewarding and I learned a lot during the process. My next project will be a Queen Anne vanity table. I'm looking forward to learning how to make the cabriole legs.
