SUPER SPICE STORAGECAD drawings ensure that these racks slide smoothly.
SHOP OWNER: Alan Young
LOCATION: Ypsilanti, MI
I designed this spice cabinet to be attached to a previously-built set of kitchen cabinets. The spice shelves each hold 30 jars 1.75" in diameter and 3.75" high. The shelves slide in and out of the cabinet independent of each other.
Most of my projects are designed "by committee." The committee includes my customer and his or her needs, my own suggestions and ideas as to accomplish these needs, and a CAD drawing. (Scroll down to see the drawing I used to accomplish the finished cabinet.)
The drawing shows only how the spice racks move in and out. I built the carcass "on the fly" once I knew the storage requirements for the spice jars. I have found that a good drawing reduces the amount of trial and error sawdust!
Although this cabinet is designed for a kitchen, I think I could adapt it for a number of storage solutions in my shop....Alan Young
