Dan Donaldson's Doll's Dining Set

GORGEOUS DOLL FURNITURE!
Only the best will do for this doll.

Here are a couple of pictures of some doll furniture that I made for my youngest daughter for Christmas. My wife bought her one of those 18-in. dolls, but the available furniture for them was expensive and, IMHO, close to junk. So, I got commissioned by LOML to build some, and this is the result.

I debated which kind of wood to use but finally decided on poplar, stained with a mix of mahogany and cherry stain, and finished with shellac and then water based poly. The wood started off as rough sawn lumber purchased from a local sawmill. All of the pieces are put together with mortise and tenon joints. We let my daughter pick the material for the chair seats, although she didn't know what it was for.
For reference, the top of the table is 16 in. in diameter. I must have done something right, since my daughter loved it and has it set up in her room all of the time. It is a small project, but turned out to be a lot of fun, especially since I was making it up as I went along.
